Craftsmen of Fes, makers of Morocco

What often draws people to Morocco is the fascination of old towns filled with secret lanes, mysterious shops and wonderful handcrafted objects. Marrakesh always seems to be in the tourist spotlight for these things, and it is a beautiful and fascinating city, but Morocco’s second largest city and former capital, Fes, remains the real capital of fine Moroccan craftsmanship. The medina (old town) is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is home to many true masters of carpentry, upholstery and metalwork. These Fassi (people of Fes) craftsmen hold secrets of excellence that have been passed down through generations, and some of them were willing to share them through this short documentary.
