The Festivities

If you’re a big fan of a Jazz music, than surely The Indonesia Java Jazz Festival is something you have to attend at least once in your life. Among hundreds of Jazz festival around the globe, Indonesia hosts one of the most anticipated  Java Jazz Festival (JJF). This three-day festival is followed by thousands of local jazz artists and another hundreds of foreign jazz artists. The 2014 Indonesia JJF that marks its 10th year celebration since its first started in 2005 was jazzed up by 1000 local and 385 foreign performers combined in a 180 acts in three days.

This year’s JJF was held in March 2015, presented more than 50 acts per day (hundreds of artists) in 20 stages performing for 8-9 hours. The artists include Indonesia’s Jazz musician such Sandhy Sondoro, Dira Sugandhi, Raisa, Barry Likumahuwa, Addie MS Keluarga, Agnez Mo, Afgan, Dian Pramana Poetra, Jamie aditya, Krakatau Reunion, Fariz RM, RAN, and Marcell. The foreign artist that participated in this festival were known jazz artist such James Brown, Incognito, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Lee Ritenour, John Legend, Lisa Stansfield, Craig David, David Garfield, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Joey de Francesco, Kenny Garret, Cucho Valdes, James Carter, Dave Grusin, Gregory Porter, George Benson, Omar Hakim, Phil Perry, Diane Warren, Natalie Cole, Jamie Cullum, Allen Stone, James Taylor Quartet, India Ari, Earth Wind and Fire feat. Al McKay, Tania Maria, Mayer Hawthorne, and many more. The 2015 included special performance by Jessie J, despite her genre on Pop and R&B. The first Java Jazz Festival was attended with almost 50,000 people during the three days show and the number has since then increased, with approximately 115,000 visitors had attended the festival in 2013.

What’s Next?

The 2016 Java Jazz Festival is scheduled on 4-6 March 2016 in Jakarta and the ticket is now available in the JJF official website. The already confirmed performers include the following, while other artists have not been publicly confirmed.

The ticket price for one day (daily) pass is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) 400,000 (equals to 30 USD) and the ticket is sold for a specific day. If your favorite artist perform on the first day, then you have to buy for Day-1 ticket only. But if you want to watch the whole performance in three days, the 3-days ticket also available for IDR 1,000,000 (equals to 72 USD).
