Koh Rong Sanloem, the popular holiday island
Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem have become very popular tourist destinations in Sihanouk Ville, Cambodia. They used to be referred to as the same island, Koh Rong, but since they’re quite big and often got mistaken by tourists, one of them was called Koh Rong Sanloem instead.
Koh means ‘island’.
Below is a screenshot from Google Maps of both islands from mainland Sihanouk Ville. It takes about 1.5 hours by boat to get to Koh Rong Sanloem.
I occasionally heard about the islands, but it’s only this past year that a lot of people seem to visit. My friends, relatives, and neighbors have all been there. The reason they’ve become so popular today is that they have been modernized, and made more accessible to the public. Easy roads have been built and the islands have been set up to be more attractive to tourists.
I, myself, had the opportunity to visit with my family. It was on a rainy day. I can’t say much, but I have a lot of pictures to show, and you can check out the website if you’re interested in Koh Rong.
