Medieval Days in San Marino
During these days, the ancient Republic will be filled with a Medieval atmosphere.
In the afternoon, the old city centre becomes a suggestive theatre where adults and children alike will be able to dive into the past and enter exciting medieval life. Four days and four nights of extensive merrymaking. Along the narrow and steep streets of San Marino, the attention of visitors will be drawn to lots of intriguing and festive situations.
History comes to life again amid the ancient walls thanks to pageant groups from San Marino and art cities with centuries-old traditions. Heart of the event is Cava dei Balestrieri, where in the evening the spotlights are switched on and the show begins: flag throwers and court scenes, soldiers and horsemen, competing in jousts and crossbow tournaments.
Established in 1993, with the cooperation of the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation, over the years the event has maintained its unique and inimitable appeal, evoking the traditions and history of the world’s oldest Republic and to live the atmosphere of a thousand years ago.
