Nordic Game Conference, the biggest video games meetup in Scandinavia

For those interested in game development Nordic Game Conference is held annually in Malmö Sweden every Spring since 2003. During three days the attendants have the opportunity to try out what is latest on the market for Game Developers. At daytime inspiring talks are held by people from the industry and producers of your favorite games.

The first evening the Nordic Game Indie Night is held, a party where you can play and vote for the Indie Games up and running for the Nordic Game Awards. Something that makes this event unique is that it is the biggest event in the North and in Sweden for game makers to meet up and share their knowledge.

Diversity and Virtual Reality were two of the hottest subjects on the expo and talks this year. With new technology such as Octulus Rift, a type of goggles that allows the bearer to immerse herself into the virtual world, developers find themselves facing a whole new range of problems.

The Game Industry in Sweden is a fast growing branch but also as a culture in general. Most kids growing up today have a relationship to games, it is a way to educate, empathise and explore. With other words it is a culture that has a huge impact on those participating in it therefore questions such as diversity and how to portrait different kind of characters is an important discussion.
