The immortality of Jordi Hurtado
Some of you may speak Spanish, but what do you know about Spanish culture? Or rather, what do you know about Spanish pop culture? If you want to impress your Spanish friends and make them laugh, tell them you know about Jordi Hurtado.
Jordi Hurtado was born near Barcelona in 1957 and has been hosting radio and television shows since 1985. He started hosting Saber y Ganar (Knowing and Winning) in 1997, a show he still hosts today. What is really interesting about this is that it looks like he hasn’t aged a bit.
This hasn’t gone unnoticed, and bazillions of hilarious tweets and memes can be found in this beautiful place called the Internet. Countless theories exist: Jordi Hurtado is immortal, he’s a robot, he’s a hologram…
Without further ado, I present you a few carefully selected tweets and memes about him, which I have translated.
“Facebook hasn’t made a movie about my life, it has made a trilogy”
“Four presidents, three Popes, two kings… who’s next?”
“The name “Ben Hur” comes from Benjamin Hurtado, the younger brother of Jordi, who back then hosted “Sapere et Vincere”” (latin for Saber y Ganar, or at least it sounds like it)
“Our first contestant is called Eve and she comes from Adam’s ribs”
“I’m immortal!” (ok, this one sucks, but his face is hilarious)
Tweet by @xisco_unzue: “God created Adam and Eve because Jordi Hurtado felt lonely”
Tweet by @SirJordiHurtado: “May you have a long and prosperous life! That’s what I told the dinosaurs. And see how they ended”.
