Walk the length of New Zealand

New Zealand has many spectacular walks you can do that rate highly on a world stage, but there is one that tops them all.  The Te Araroa trail is a 3000km walk that goes from Cape Reinga light house at the top point of New Zealand all the way to Bluff in the south. Yes, you can walk the length of New Zealand.  It may take a while though and some trusty walking boots may be required.

The track was officially opened December 3rd 2011 by the Governor General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae.  There will be those with a love for adventure and enough time off work that will attempt the walk in one trip (about 5 months is required), but for many others it may be the kind of thing that you can do parts of through your life so that when you get to the end you can say you have walked the length of New Zealand. In 2014 one guy even run it in 85 days.

The walk takes in amazing landscapes, from beaches to volcanoes to forests to cities.  Something along the way to take anyone’s breath away.
